Raid Specs Empty
PostSubject: Raid Specs   Raid Specs EmptyMon Sep 08, 2008 11:13 pm

There are going to be two accepted raid specs for 25 mans as of right now, we may add an Arms warrior once we see that you can do a decent slam rotation and generally don't suck too bad.

Prot:
there are a few different ones, each have their own benefits

8/10/43

should always have one of the OTs speced like this, this adds the most mitigation debuffs to a mob, and still almost has the same amount points in prot.

Lanshi can explain this one better then I can, so I hope he does Smile

This one is nice for trash and heroics. adds alot of CC and interupts to what you can do as a tank. I <3 this spec for heroics.

Fury Spec
I have very limited knowledge in this area, so if someone wants to come correct me, try me Smile

this one covers the debuffs for your tank and is close to your max DPS. There are several variations on this build, but something like this should be used.

Any questions or comments or discussion post on here, or PST me in game Smile

There are three reason you would want this build. Two of those reason are Imp TC. Imp TC helps you hold agro when you have 2-4 mobs. The other reason for Imp TC is that it lowers the swing speed of a mob, which can be a good thing since if you lower 4 mobs attack speed 25% you have effectively CC a whole mob worth of damage.

The second reason there are some mobs that enrages and have a attack speed of 1.5 which is 3 attacks every 4.5 seconds. This means that every 3rd attack has a chance to be a crushing blow since shield block only blocks two attacks every 5 seconds. With untalented TC up its 3 attacks every 4.95 seconds which means every 10 seconds they have a chance to get a crushing blow. With imp TC it takes 5.625 seconds to do three attacks. Effectively pushing crushing blows off the table (of course this isn't taking parries into consideration). I know not a single person is reading this.

The final reason for this spec is having anger management and bloodrage togather is the extra rage on demand. Being able to shield reflect the first spell a mob cast effectively can beat out healing agro for a good 15 seconds or more depending on the number of mobs healing agro is divided between and how much damage you as a tank are taking. A good example of this is the 6 mob pulls where one shield reflect will keep the mage lock and imp glue to you until its time for them to be killed.

In summary, spec good me like spec.

At least we both like to talk about this stuff, good that some of the tanks understand threat and mitigation mechanics, lol. I'm normally 8/10/43 when I OT for you. The one thing I hate about having other people OT other then me is they never keep Demo or Tclap up for you, and I don't understand why Sad

Have you looked at the new talents yet?

And what do you think about 5/5/51 for heroics?

I think its a spec that works better when your undergeared or when your facing mobs that have naste casting abilities.

One of the reason I don't like Imp Rev now that I use to love is the sporatic reduction in damage which leads to sporatic rage starvation. When I had mostly blues this skill was great for mitigating damage when forced to tank more mobs then my gear should allow. But, then getting rage wasn't the problem, staying alive was. Now that my gear is better I find I'm starving for rage and imp rev compounds the problem. At least thats my experience with it.

Imp taunt is a useful skill in 5 mans. Possibly a nessessity as a substitute for imp thunderclap multi-mob tanking.

Imp Shield Bash is just one of those skills I fell out of love with when shield reflection got introduced. It just doesn't buy you much beyond what the untalented skill gives you. How many mob are there that have two different schools that arn't immune to silence. The only mobs I see regularly that have a skill that warrents the two talent points are summoners and most of them share the same school for both attack and summons.

All in all, I think its a good spec when you are entery level geared and for making some annoying trash fights easier to manage. I just feel that thats a heavy investment of talent points for skills that have limited benefit to raids and no benefit to boss fights.
